OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE OF THE TRACING HISTORY TRUST

 

  • to promote and undertake the recording of archival, documentary, artefactual, oral and other historical resources, with the purpose of making them accessible to researchers and interested members of the public;

  • to promote and undertake the dissemination of this information in the form of electronic, paper-based and other products, thereby enabling conservation of the original resources;

  • to promote and support collaborative and integrated multi-disciplinary research relating to the recent (AD1500 – present) history of South Africa and its interconnectedness with the African continent and the wider world;

  • to support the production of academic, specialised and popular publications, and participation in local and international fora such as conferences;

  • to receive grants, donations and other income from whomsoever, in order to further the objects of the Trust.

 

The Tracing History Trust is registered as a Public Benefit Organisation in terms of Section 30 of the Act and
as a Non-Profit Organisation in terms of Section 13(5) of the Non-Profit Organisations Act, 1997.
